“I make an art form of combining the natural beauty of wood with the latest technology." - Mikko Kärkkäinen, CEO & Designer at Tunto Design. Mikko begins each design process by getting a physical feel for the material and drawing initial designs on paper. Hence, every Tunto product ends up with a distinctive DNA that stems from Mikko’s unique perspective. Mikko’s designs for Tunto have received numerous international awards over the years like the German Design award, Good Design award, and Red Dot design award.
Mikko has also been recognized as one of the prominent contemporary designers in the form of the “Europe 40 under 40” award and has received the official Finnish State Award in Design 2015.
