Giessen, Netherlands
Today, with Father and Founder Teun van Gammeren sons, Arjens & John are at the helm ensuring Quasar’s founding principles are respected and built upon. Each new addition to the collection is unique, timeless and instantly recognizable as a Quasar product.
Father and Founder Teun van Gammeren first launched Quasar internationally in 1992, at Euroluce, Milan. At the time, the collection consisted mainly of cast metal lighting designs, available in three finishes: raw aluminium, polished aluminium and bronze, with each finish lending itself to one of three categories: classic, timeless or modern ambience.
Through the years the collection has expanded into LED, while their portfolio grew through collaborations with remarkable designers like Ravage, Edward van Vliet and the Belgian artist Jan Pauwels.
Jan des Bouvrie's progressive vision was shaped by many years of working together with manufacturers. In addition to furniture design, des Bouvrie also designed for companies like Philips, KPN, Sony, Smart, Bruynzeel, Princess and Gamma.
With his design team, des Bouvrie creates total designs with an eye for every detail. Every project at home and abroad is guided with an absolute passion and attention to detail. Des Bouvrie has always had a clear goal in mind; designs for everyone. He always aimed to design quality products for an affordable price and supported the 'democratic design' movement in Netherlands.
